One pet peeve of mine is giving the government an interest free loan. In other words shrinking your savings!!
It is a good time to forecast how the year will end. You may have a year where you are due a refund. Do not let the government use this money. You deserve the money now. Use the money now for an investment or to just give you a little bit of breathing room within your money budget. We can target how much you will need to deduct from your paychecks for the rest of the year and give you a dollar amount to have your employer withhold.
Money is tight for a lot of people, and that is the excuse of saying “this is kind of my savings”. You can have your employer direct deposit a separate amount of money into a savings account every month and still wind up with a savings amount at the end of the year without waiting for your tax return to be filed and the government to send it to you. Yes, I know, the savings interest rates are not very high, but allowing the government to use your money isn’t paying you any interest at all.
